Detectives Investigate Rape in Silver Spring - Video of Person of Interest Released

Montgomery County Police-Major Crimes Detectives are investigating a rape that occurred on Friday, December 13 on Garland Avenue in Silver Spring.  Today, detectives are releasing video of a person of interest in this case and are asking for the public to call police with any information about this crime.

On Friday, December 13 at approximately 10:45 p.m., an adult female exited her apartment in the 8300 block of Garland Avenue to place trash in a garbage can.  While outside, she was grabbed from behind, forced to the ground, and pulled to a more concealed area.  The suspect, who was wearing a ski mask, produced a weapon and raped the victim.  He fled on foot and the victim was able to go to a nearby home for help.  Police and K9 responded to the area but did not locate the suspect.

The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 5'08" to 6'00" tall, with brown eyes.

Investigation in this case led detectives to a retail store.  A female, who has been identified as a person of interest in this case, made a purchase at that store.  Video surveillance shows the female exiting the store and shows her entering a vehicle.  Investigators would like to talk to this female.
