Detectives Investigate Bank Robbery in Bethesda; Photos Released

For Immediate Release: Thursday, January 2, 2014

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division are investigating a bank robbery that occurred on December 26 in Bethesda.  Detectives believe that the suspect involved is the same suspect that committed a bank robbery in Potomac on December 21.

On December 26, at approximately 4:37 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the M&T Bank located at 7920 Norfolk Avenue for a report of a bank robbery that had just occurred.  Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, approached a teller, and produced a note.  The suspect stated that he was armed.  The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the bank.

The suspect is described as a black male, 35 to 40 years old, and 5'7" to 5'9" tall.  He was wearing the same baseball hat seen in the photos of the suspect in the December 21 bank robbery.

Today, detectives are releasing surveillance photos of the suspect and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this robbery or the suspect involved to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
