Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - 2nd District Investigative Section are currently investigating an armed robbery that occurred on Christmas Eve at the Westfield Montgomery Mall in Bethesda.  Today, investigators are releasing surveillance video of a male and female suspect and are asking for the public's assistance in identifying them.

On December 24, 2013 at approximately 2:05 p.m., officers responded to the Westfield Montgomery Mall, located at 7101 Democracy Boulevard, for an armed robbery that had just occurred.  Officers spoke with the 71-year-old victim, who stated that she had exited the mall and was walking to her vehicle in a parking garage adjacent to the Sears store.  The suspect, who was walking close to the victim, produced a handgun and grabbed her purse.  He then fled on foot.  The male suspect was described as dark-skinned, with a thin build and wearing a dark-colored coat.

Within approximately two hours of the robbery, the victim's stolen credit cards and checkbook were used at stores in Lanham and College Park.  Detectives have obtained store surveillance of a male suspect and female suspect using one of the stolen checks.
