Bus Driver Arrested for Assault

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, January 22, 2014

Detectives from the 1st District Investigative Section have arrested an Olney man for committing second degree assault and fourth degree sex offenses.

Rigoberto Adonay Galindo Lemus, age 47, of the 3300 block of Buehler Court, was arrested on January 9.

On December 17, 2013, an adult female reported to police that she had been assaulted on a Ride On bus in the area of the Shady Grove Metro station.  Investigation revealed that on December 12, 2013, at approximately 5:05 p.m., the victim had been walking on Sommerville Drive when she passed an out-of-service Ride On bus.  The driver of the bus, Lemus, engaged her in conversation and invited her on to the bus to stay warm.  The victim accepted and boarded the bus.

Once on the bus, the victim and Lemus were engaging in a conversation when Lemus inappropriately touched her.  The victim then left the bus and, while exiting, Lemus again inappropriately touched her.

Based on the above, Lemus is charged with two counts of second degree assault and two counts of committing a fourth degree sex offense.  He was released from detention on his own recognizance on January 9.
