Detectives Investigate Homicide in Silver Spring

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a homicide in Silver Spring that was discovered yesterday.

On February 20 at approximately 2:37 p.m., officers from the 3rd District responded to a residence in the 2000 block of Hanover Street in Silver Spring.  A co-worker had called police after the victim was discovered deceased in the home.  The co-worker had come to the home to check on the victim after the victim had failed to come to work that day.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.  The victim is identified as Phillip F. Welsh, Jr., age 65, of the 2000 block of Hanover Street in Silver Spring.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to contact the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.  Tips received through the Crime Solvers program may be eligible for a reward of up to $10,000 for information leading to the arrest of the person or people responsible for this homicide.
