Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision at Rockville Metro Station

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are continuing to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred this evening at the Rockville Metro station.

Tonight at approximately 7:20 p.m., Montgomery County police officers and Rockville City police officers responded to the Rockville Metro station located at 250 Rockville Pike for the report of a pedestrian struck.  Preliminary investigation has revealed that a pedestrian was walking across the entrance of the metro station.  A Ride On bus struck the pedestrian as the bus was attempting to make a left turn from westbound Park Road into the entrance of the Rockville Metro station.

The pedestrian was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.  The pedestrian is being identified as Anicia Caringal Castillo, age 62, of the 7300 block of Paxton Road in Falls Church, Virginia.

The driver of the bus is being identified as Daryll Norvell Banks, age 42, of the 12500 block of Catalina Drive in Lusby, Maryland.

The circumstances surrounding this collision remain under investigation.  There were two passengers on the bus who were no longer on scene when police responded to the collision.  Detectives would like those individuals and anyone else with information regarding this collision to contact the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240.773.6620 or call the police non-emergency number at 301.279.8000.  Callers may remain anonymous.
