Detectives Investigate Carjacking in Chevy Chase

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division are investigating a carjacking that occurred last night in Chevy Chase.

Last night, at approximately 10:19 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to a residence in the 100 block of East Melrose Street for a report of a carjacking that had just occurred.  Investigation revealed that the female victim was sitting in the passenger seat of her vehicle which was parked in the driveway of her residence.  The suspect approached the vehicle, opened the driver's door, and pointed a handgun at the victim.  The victim exited the vehicle and ran inside of her residence.  The suspect was last seen driving the vehicle toward Connecticut Avenue.

The suspect is described as a black male, 5'10" to 6'0" tall, and approximately 20 years of age.  He was dressed in all black clothing and was armed with a black or gray handgun.

The stolen vehicle is described as a black 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee bearing Maryland registration 112142D.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about this carjacking or the whereabouts of the stolen vehicle to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.
