Update: One Suspect Charged, One Outstanding in Bethesda Residential Robbery

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, March 19, 2014

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police - Major Crimes Division are continuing to investigate a residential robbery that occurred in Bethesda on November 25, 2013.

On December 6, 2013, detectives released a surveillance video of the two suspects involved in the robbery and asked for the public’s assistance in identifying them (see video here).

On December 18, after the release of the surveillance video, detectives received an anonymous Crime Solvers tip that identified one of the suspects.  The suspect was identified as Gary J. Lee-Thomas, age 29, of the 4600 block of Govenor Kent Court in Upper Marlboro, Maryland.  On December 23, 2013, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Lee-Thomas charging him with three counts of first degree assault, three counts of second degree assault, one count of armed robbery, and one count of using a firearm in the commission of a violent felony.

On January 1, 2014, Lee-Thomas was arrested in Washington, D.C. on unrelated charges and is currently being held by that jurisdiction pending a trial.  The Montgomery County arrest warrant will be served upon his release from commitment in Washington, D.C.

The second suspect in this robbery is still outstanding.  Detectives have been working to identify this suspect, but at this time, he remains unidentified.  Today, detectives are asking the public to view the video released on December 6.  In the video, Lee-Thomas is the taller male with a beard.

Anyone with information regarding the identity of the second suspect is asked to call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477) or leave a Crime Solvers tip here.  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.  Tipsters will remain anonymous.

Additionally, the Crime Solvers tipster who provided the identity of Gary Lee-Thomas is eligible for a Crime Solvers reward.  The tipster is asked to re-contact Crime Solvers in order to claim his/her reward money.
