April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, April 2, 2014

April is National Distracted Driving Awareness Month. Montgomery County police officers will be focusing their attention on enforcing distracted driving-related violations throughout the month.

Distracted driving is any activity that could divert a person's attention away from the primary task of driving.  Distracted driving violations include using a hand-held cell phone, texting, eating and drinking, grooming, reading, and watching videos while driving a vehicle.  All distractions endanger drivers, passengers, and bystanders.

Montgomery County police officers observing the above violations, as well as any other distracted driving activity, will issue citations to the driver of the vehicle.
