Detectives Investigate Inappropriate Touching of Student That Occurred During Student's Walk to School

For Immediate Release: Friday, May 2, 2014

Montgomery County Police-Family Crimes Detectives are investigating an incident during which an unknown suspect inappropriately touched a ten-year-old female as she was walking to school.

Yesterday morning, the female student was walking to Rolling Terrace Elementary School (located at 705 Bayfield Street in Takoma Park).  At approximately 7:40 a.m., in the area of Barron Street and Bayfield Street, the suspect approached the victim from behind.  The suspect touched the victim inappropriately and then removed his hands after the victim turned around to face him.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, approximately 5'00" to 5'02" tall, and in his late 30s to early 40s.  He was wearing a black sweatshirt, black baseball hat, saggy, light blue jeans, and black shoes.  He carried a dark green and light gray backpack on his shoulders and had the chest stap fastened.  He smelled like cigarettes.

The victim believes she saw the suspect the day before in the area of Flower Avenue and Domer Avenue and also on the Domer Avenue footbridge (over the Long Branch Stream Valley Park).  He was wearing the same clothes on both days.

Anyone with information about this suspect is asked to contact the Family Crimes Division at 240-773-5400.  If you believe you see the suspect, please call 911 immediately.
