Body Discovered in Gaithersburg Retention Pond

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, May 20, 2014

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-Major Crimes Division are currently investigating the death of an adult male whose body was located today in a retention pond in Gaithersburg.

At approximately 9:57 a.m. today, officers were called to a retention pond that is bordered by Montgomery Village Avenue, Russell Avenue, and the Lakeforest Mall in Gaithersburg; a passerby called police and reported that there was a body in the water.  Police and Fire/Rescue units located and recovered the body of the adult male who was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is investigating the cause and manner of death.  The victim's identification and the manner and cause of his death will be released after the Medical Examiner's examination is complete.
