School Teacher Charged with Visual Surveillance

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, June 4, 2014

Darrien Lamont Tucker, age 39, of the 10800 block of Deborah Drive in Potomac, has been charged with five counts of conducting visual surveillance of another person in a private place without that person's consent and with prurient intent.  The victim is an 18-year-old, female foreign exchange student living with Tucker's family.  Darrien Tucker teaches Physical Education at the McLean School of Maryland in Potomac.

On June 1, Montgomery County Police were notified of a foreign exchange student that was reporting inappropriate behavior by her host father, Darrien Tucker.

The victim stated that on May 27 and May 28, as she was showering, she became aware that an Apple iPad was being slid under the bathroom door.  The victim then began to bring her phone into the bathroom to record what was occurring as she showered.  The victim's phone captured the iPad being slid underneath the bathroom door on the following two days.  On May 31, the victim placed a video camera in the hallway outside of the bathroom door.  The video camera captured Tucker placing the recording device under the door as the victim showered.

During an interview with police, Tucker admitted placing the iPad under the bathroom door and videotaping the victim.

On June 3, Montgomery County detectives arrested Darrien Tucker on the strength of an arrest warrant, charging him with five counts of visual surveillance with prurient intent. He is currently out on bond.
