Detectives Investigate Multiple Incidents of Vandalism in 11700 block of Parklawn Drive; Surveillance Video Released

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, June 10, 2014

Detectives from the 2nd District are investigating multiple incidents of vandalism to businesses and cars that have occurred in the 11700 block of Parklawn Drive in Rockville.  Today, investigators are releasing video and photographs of a suspect and are asking for the public's help in identifying him.

The vandalism to local businesses began in mid-March and continued through early May.  The National Alliance on Mental Illness of Montgomery County, located at 11718 Parklawn Drive in Rockville, has been the victim of approximately seven incidents of vandalism during which rocks were thrown through glass doors and windows of the business. Additionally, multiple incidents of graffiti have been reported on nearby buildings and vehicles.  These acts of vandalism have cost the victim businesses over $5,000.

Surveillance cameras captured a suspect spray painting a business in the area on April 13 at approximately 1:00 a.m.  Detectives are asking for the public's help in identifying this suspect.  Detectives believe that it is possible that there are additional suspects, as cameras captured four people walking in a group in the area on that night.

Anyone with information about these crimes or the suspects involved is asked to contact the 2nd District Petty Crimes Unit at 240-773-6726.  Callers can remain anonymous.
