Police Investigate Possible Drowning

For Immediate Release: Sunday, June 15, 2014

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division are investigating the possible drowning of a 14-year-old girl.

At 2:49 p.m., 4th District officers and Fire/Rescue units responded to the community pool located at 2217 Georgian Way in the Glenmont area for a report of a possible drowning.  When units arrived, the pool life guard was attempting life-saving measures on an unresponsive 14-year-old girl.  Fire/Rescue units assumed care of the girl and transported her to Holy Cross Hospital where she was later declared deceased.

The girl's identity will be released tomorrow.  Detectives will continue their investigation and await results from the autopsy that will be performed by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore.
