Police Investigate Stabbing on Piney Branch Road

For Immediate Release: Thursday, June 19, 2014

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department continue to investigate a stabbing that occurred just after midnight.

At approximately 12:04 a.m., Montgomery County police officers responded to a second floor apartment in the 8200 block of Piney Branch Road in Silver Spring for a stabbing that had just occurred. This apartment is located above the El Sitio Restaurant (located at 8210 Piney Branch Road).

Upon arriving to the scene, officers located an adult male victim in the second floor hallway suffering from what appeared to be multiple stab wounds. A witness, who had observed the suspect fleeing from the scene on foot, began to follow the suspect in a vehicle. The witness was able to flag down officers as they arrived to the call and provided officers with the suspect's last known location.  Officers located the adult male suspect a short distance from the scene and took him into custody.

The victim was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and remains in serious condition.
