Detectives Investigate Robbery of Bank of America in Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, July 22, 2014

Detectives from the Major Crimes Division – Robbery Section are investigating a bank robbery that occurred today at 2:52 p.m. at the Bank of America located at 10151 Colesville Road in Silver Spring.

Detectives learned that a man walked into the bank, produced a note and displayed an unknown type of potentially-explosive device. He received an undisclosed amount of cash. He then fled on foot in an unknown direction, taking the device with him. No one was injured during the incident.

The suspect is described as a light-skinned black male, 5’10” to 6' tall, with a medium build. He was wearing a black sweatshirt and an olive-green-colored baseball cap.

There is no video of the suspect to release at this time. Anyone with information regarding this bank robbery is asked to call the Robbery Section at 240-773-5100.
