July 11 Collision Now Fatal

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a now-fatal collision that occurred earlier in July.

On July 11 at approximately 11:43 a.m., 5th District officers responded to a personal injury collision on Peach Tree Road at Barnesville Road.  Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1995 Dodge Neon was traveling north on Peach Tree Road. A 2014 Toyota SUV traveling on Barnesville Road was attempting to cross Peach Tree Road when the two cars collided.

The driver of the Dodge Neon was transported to the hospital for apparent non-life-threatening injuries and was released from the hospital.  On July 13, the driver died at his residence.  He is being identified as William Collins, age 82, of the 19700 block of White Ground Road in Boyds.  His official cause of death is pending the results of an autopsy by the The Medical Examiner's Office in Baltimore.



The driver of the Toyota SUV is being identified as Floridalma Villianatos, age 65, of the 13100 block of Commodore Lane in Clarksburg.  The driver and back-seat passenger of the Toyota SUV were not injured and the vehicle was not towed.
