Driver Death Believed Due to Medical Emergency

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division – Homicide Section are investigating the death of a driver that occurred earlier today.

At approximately 9:24 this morning, 1st District officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the report of a car into a building in the 11100 block of Gainsborough Road in Potomac. At the scene they found the driver inside a silver 2000 BMW convertible on the lawn of a residence. There was visible exterior damage to a corner of the home's garage. Rescue efforts were performed at the scene. The driver was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

The victim has been identified as Thomas A. Brown, age 83, from Potomac

This case is being investigated as a death due to a medical emergency rather than from a traffic collision. The official cause of death will be determined after completion of an autopsy by the Medical Examiner’s Office in Baltimore.
