Detectives Investigate Serious Pedestrian Collision in Rockville

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious collision involving a pedestrian and a vehicle that occurred last night in Rockville.

Yesterday, at approximately 11:38 p.m., 1st District officers, Rockville City Police, and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of First Street and Maple Avenue for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. Preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian had been crossing First Street at the intersection of Maple Avenue. While crossing the roadway, the pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Tacoma that was traveling westbound on First Street. The driver of the Toyota Tacoma remained on the scene.

The pedestrian has been identified as Roberto Flores, age 21, of the 6900 block of 24th Avenue in Hyattsville. He was transported to a local hospital where he remains in grave condition.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma has been identified as Robert Martin, age 36, of the 11500 block of Fenchurch Court in Germantown. He was not injured.
