Update: Rockville Pedestrian Collision Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred last night in Rockville.

The pedestrian, identified as Roberto Flores, age 21, succumbed to his injuries this morning at Shady Grove Hospital. Family members were present at that time. Mr. Flores resided in the 6900 block of 24th Avenue in Hyattsville.

On Sunday, August 3, at 11:38 p.m., 1st District officers, Rockville City Police, and Fire/Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of First Street and Maple Avenue for a report of a pedestrian that had been struck by a vehicle. Preliminary investigation revealed that the pedestrian had been crossing First Street at the intersection of Maple Avenue. While crossing the roadway, the pedestrian was struck by a Toyota Tacoma that was traveling westbound on First Street. The driver of the Toyota Tacoma remained on the scene.

The driver of the Toyota Tacoma has been identified as Robert Martin, age 36, of the 11500 block of Fenchurch Court in Germantown. He was not injured.
