Update: Detectives Continue to Investigate Attempted Armed Robbery in Silver Spring-Ask for Public's Help

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-3rd District Investigative Section continue to investigate an attempted armed robbery during which the victim was stabbed several times.

On Monday, September 29 at approximately 7:46 p.m., 3rd District officers responded to the Forest Park Apartments in the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road for the report of an attempted armed robbery that had just occurred. The investigation revealed that the adult female victim was walking in the area of the apartment complex when she was approached by the suspect, who demanded money. When she replied she had no money, the suspect said, "Then you are going to die tonight."  He then knocked her to the ground and stabbed her several times with a knife.  A passing citizen observed the attack and called police.  The suspect then fled on foot.  Arriving officers rendered first aid to the victim, who was gravely injured but whose condition improved at the hospital.  The victim has been released from the hospital and is now recovering at home.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic male, 17-19 years old, 120 pounds, thin build, medium height, black hair, with a black and white pattern bandana covering the lower part of his face, and wearing a blue shirt, "skinny" blue jeans, an unknown color baseball cap, and a black belt.
