On November 12, 3rd District officers responded to the 1200 block of East West Highway for a robbery that had just occurred at approximately 3:59 a.m.

Two victims, ages 21 and 22, met an acquaintance, John Kamara, age 27, in Washington, D.C. at a club for a few hours on November 11. In the early morning hours of November 12, the three drove back to Kamara’s apartment Silver Spring apartment located in the 1200 block of East-West Highway. While in the apartment, Kamara’s roommate, identified as Abdul Turay, age 21, became upset with the victims. The victims left the apartment but were confronted in the apartment building’s lobby by Kamara and Turay. Turay pointed a handgun at them. Turay left the area and the victims followed Kamara into a parking garage.

Once inside the garage, Kamara struck the vehicle with his feet and hands, damaging the vehicle. Kamara then physically assaulted the first victim. When the second victim indicated she was calling the police, Kamara attempted to take the second victim’s cell phone. When he was unable to get the cell phone, he then took the first victim’s purse and removed the wallet that was inside the purse. Kamara then entered a nearby vehicle and left the area.

Once officers responded to the area, the victims were able to provide descriptions of both Turay and Kamara. Officers placed Turay under arrest on scene.  He has been charged with armed robbery and first degree assault. Kamara fled the scene but is wanted on attempted robbery, second degree assault, and theft.
