Update: Suspect Charged with Additional Counts of Sex Offenses

In early October, detectives from the Special Victims Investigation Division began investigating the report that Jose Pineda, in his role as a MCPS substitute teacher, inappropriately touched a female student at Roberto Clemente Middle School in September of 2014.  On October 14, Pineda was charged with one count of third degree sex offense and one count of sex abuse of a minor.

Since that arrest, three more female victims have come forward to police and stated that Pineda inappropriately touched them during the school day and while he was a substitute teacher.  On November 19, detectives charged Jose Pineda with three additional counts of third degree sex offense and three counts of sex abuse of a minor. Two of the victims were students at Ridgeview Middle School; the incidents occurred at the end of the 2014 school year.  One victim was a student at Forest Oak Middle School; the incident occurred in 2004.

Jose Pineda is currently being held on $150,000 bond at the Montgomery County Detention Center with a bond review scheduled for Monday, November 24, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at the Rockville District Court.
