Detectives Investigate Attempted Sexual Assault in Wheaton

For Immediate Release: Tuesday, December 9, 2014

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Special Victims Investigations Division are investigating an attempted sex assault that occurred at the Wheaton Metro parking garage last night.

At approximately 9:00 p.m. last evening, the 33-year-old victim was opening her vehicle door in the Wheaton Metro parking garage (located at 11010 Veirs Mill Road) when she was approached by the suspect. The suspect, described as a black male in his teens and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, approached the victim; he was holding a gun to his side.   The suspect demanded that the victim follow him and perform a sex act. When the victim refused to comply with the suspect’s demands, he fled from the scene. The victim exited the parking garage in her vehicle and called police.

Special Victims Investigations Division detectives are coordinating with officers from the Metro Transit Police Department during this investigation. Anyone with information about the suspect or this incident is asked to call the Special Victims Investigations Division at: 240-773-5050.
