Kensington Bank Robbery

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police – Major Crimes Division are investigating a bank robbery that occurred on December 9 in Kensington.

On December 9 at approximately 12:00 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to the M&T Bank branch located at 10420 Montgomery Avenue for a report of a bank robbery. Investigation revealed that the suspect entered the bank, approached the teller, produced a handgun and requested money. The suspect obtained an undisclosed amount of cash and fled from the bank.

Investigators believe that the suspect may be responsible for two other bank robberies; at the Capital One on Westlake Terrace in Bethesda, MD, on January 8, 2014 and at the M&T Bank on River Road in Potomac, MD, on December 27, 2012. Witnesses say that the suspect was similarly dressed in all of these robberies.

Today, detectives are releasing photographs of the suspect in the December 9 bank robbery and are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying him.

Tipsters will remain anonymous.  Information can also be provided to the FBI-Baltimore Field Office at 410-265-8080.  The FBI is offering $5000.00 for providing information that leads to an arrest in this case.
