Colesville Fatal Collision Investigation

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in Colesville.

At approximately 9:36 p.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Randolph Road at Hammonton Place for the report of a collision.  Preliminary investigation indicates that a 1996 Ford Mustang was traveling west on Randolph Road (towards Wheaton) when for reasons still under investigation, the driver of the 1996 Ford Mustang lost control of the vehicle, crossed two lanes and struck a 2007 Ford Mustang that was also traveling in westbound lanes of Randolph Road. The 1996 Ford Mustang then crossed back across the lanes, striking the center median, driving onto the median and striking trees before coming to rest in the eastbound lanes of Randolph Road. Fire Rescue attempted life saving measures on scene but the 46-year-old driver of the 1996 Ford Mustang was declared deceased at the scene of the collision. The driver of the 2007 Ford Mustang did not sustain any injuries and remained on scene.

The identities of the drivers from both vehicles are not being released at this time. More details including the identity of the decedent will be released once the next-of-kin has been notified.
