UPDATE: Drivers Identified in Colesville Fatal Collision

For Immediate Release: Friday, December 26, 2014

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) continue to investigate a fatal collision that occurred last night in the Colesville area.   The drivers of both vehicles are now being identified.

The driver of the 2007 Ford Mustang GT is identified as Austin Lee Sexton, age 29, of Laurel, Maryland.

The deceased driver of the 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra is identified as  Ronald Jerome Taylor, age 46, of Silver Spring, Maryland.

At approximately 9:36 p.m., 4th District officers and Montgomery County Fire Rescue personnel responded to the area of Randolph Road at Hammonton Place for the report of a collision. Preliminary investigation indicates that a 1996 Ford Mustang was traveling west on Randolph Road (towards Wheaton) when for reasons still under investigation, the driver of the 1996 Ford Mustang lost control of the vehicle, crossed two lanes and struck a 2007 Ford Mustang that was also traveling in westbound lanes of Randolph Road. The 1996 Ford Mustang then crossed back across the lanes, striking the center median, driving onto the median and striking trees before coming to rest in the eastbound lanes of Randolph Road. Fire Rescue attempted life saving measures on scene but the 46-year-old driver of the 1996 Ford Mustang was declared deceased at the scene of the collision. The driver of the 2007 Ford Mustang did not sustain any injuries and remained on scene.

Anyone with information about this collision is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
