Update: Suspect Charged in Christmas Display Theft

For Immediate Release: Monday, January 5, 2015

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department - 4th District Petty Crimes Unit have charged Daniel Ryan Anger, age 19, of New City, New York, with theft and malicious destruction of property for stealing and damaging items at a Christmas display at a Brookeville residence.  At the time of the incident, Anger lived in Montgomery County.

Shortly after midnight on December 4, a resident of Lubar Way in Brookeville received a telephone call from a neighbor making her aware that someone might have stolen a lawn decoration from her Christmas display.  When the victim checked on her display, she realized that the suspect had stolen two Christmas lawn ornaments and had damaged another decoration.  The suspect also attempted to remove additional ornaments from the lawn display but was unsuccessful.  The resident looked at home video surveillance footage of her yard and observed the suspect captured on camera.  The total value of the stolen and damaged ornaments was approximately $600.

Later in the day on December 4, the victim was notified that both stolen ornaments had been located by residents of the Brinklow area (Brighton Knolls Drive and New Hampshire Avenue).

Anger, who resided in the Brinklow area at the time of the theft, was developed as a suspect.  On December 31, Anger was charged via a district court summons with theft under $1,000 and malicious destruction under $500.
