UPDATE: Missing Gaithersburg Woman Located

For Immediate Release: Thursday, January 29, 2015

On January 9, Elizabeth “Betty” Jean Queen was reported missing.  Detectives from the 6th District Investigative Section have been investigating the case.

Earlier today, a press conference was held where Ms. Queen’s sister spoke in hopes of putting attention back on this case so her sister could be located.  Due to media coverage by a local news report, a correctional officer recognized Ms. Queen as someone who had been processed approximately a month ago with a different name and MCP was contacted.

It was learned that on December 30, 2014, a 3rd District officer responded to the 2200 block of Broadbirch Drive in Silver Spring for a reported trespasser, now known to have been Ms. Queen.  The officer asked Ms. Queen to leave the building.  Ms. Queen refused to leave and was arrested.  She was transported to the Central Processing Unit where she was charged with multiple offenses including second degree assault and disorderly conduct.  During processing, Ms. Queen refused to identify herself and therefore was booked as “Jane Smith”.  Ms. Queen was later transferred to a hospital to receive treatment for her condition.  She was located at that hospital this evening.

The Montgomery County Police Department thanks the media outlets and those on social media for their assistance in publicizing this case.
