For Immediate Release: Friday, February 6, 2015

Detectives from the 3rd District are investigating the assault of a 31-year-old female that occurred in the laundry room of an apartment building in Silver Spring.  Investigators are releasing a composite of the suspect and are asking for the public's help in identifying him.

On Friday, January 30 at approximately 10:49 p.m., the female victim was in a first floor laundry room located in an apartment building in the 700 block of Sligo Avenue in Silver Spring.  The suspect entered the laundry room and closed the door.  He ordered the female, who was turned away from him, to face him; the victim did not comply.  He then displayed an open, folding pocket knife and began to approach the victim.  The victim began to scream for help and the suspect fled from the room.

The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 16 to 18 years old, 5'6" tall, with short black hair and wearing a diamond earring in each ear.  He was wearing a white, short sleeve t-shirt and white skinny jeans.

Anyone with information is asked to call 3rd District detectives at 240-773-6870.  Those who wish to remain anonymous may call Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Crime Solvers will pay a cash reward of up to $10,000 for information provided to them that leads to an arrest and/or indictment for this felony crime.
