Police Investigate Fatal Pedestrian Collision

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred earlier this morning in Montgomery Village.




On Saturday, March 7, at approximately 1:22 a.m., 6th District officers and Montgomery County Fire/Rescue personnel responded for the report of a subject in the road at the intersection of Goshen Road and East Village Drive.  Arriving units found an unconscious adult male with obvious injuries in the intersection.  He was transported to Shady Grove Adventist Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries at approximately 2:00 a.m.




A driver and vehicle were quickly identified on a nearby street.  There was evidence that the 18-year-old female driver may have been under the influence of alcohol.  She was taken into custody and provided a breath sample for analysis.  Any charges will be determined pending the outcome of the investigation.




Preliminary investigation indicates that the driver was traveling south on Goshen Road in a white, 2015 Volkswagen Jetta.  As the vehicle neared East Village Drive, it struck the pedestrian in the roadway just north of the intersection.  The driver is being identified as Helen Rommel of the  6100 block of Sam Riggs Road in Laytonsville.  The pedestrian is being identified as Osmin de Jesus Montano Carrillo, age 35, of the 19600 block of Club Lake Road in Montgomery Village.
