Victim Identified in Fatal Pedestrian Collision in Clarksburg

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-Collision Reconstruction Unit are continuing to investigate a fatal pedestrian collision that occurred on March 18.

The victim is now being identified as Betty Lou Vest, age 67, of the 22700 block Frederick Road in Clarksburg.

At approximately 7:42 p.m., 5th District officers and Montgomery County Fire/Rescue personnel responded for the report of a pedestrian struck in the 22700 block of Frederick Road in Clarksburg.  The victim was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

The investigation has revealed that a 2002 Volkswagen Golf TDI, driven by Carl Martin of Ruby Drive in Boyds, was traveling northbound on Frederick Road. At the same time, the pedestrian, identified as Betty Lou Vest, was attempting to cross the street although there was no marked crosswalk in the area. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle struck the pedestrian. The striking vehicle remained at the scene.
