Detectives Investigate Commercial Robbery in Four Corners Area of Silver Spring

For Immediate Release: Friday, April 17, 2015

Detectives from Montgomery County Police-Major Crimes Division are investigating a commercial robbery that took place this morning in the Four Corners area of Silver Spring.

At 6:35 a.m., the Emergency Call Center received a call for an armed robbery that had just occurred at the Shell Gas Station located at 100 University Boulevard West in Four Corners.  Officers from the 3rd District responded and found an adult male victim with an injury to the head.

The preliminary investigation reveals the suspect entered the business and produced a handgun.  During the course of the robbery, the suspect struck the victim on the head with the handgun.  He was last seen fleeing on foot to the right of the gas station after obtaining an undisclosed amount of cash.

Officers and K9 units began a search of the area for the suspect.  Due to the proximity of the scene to Blair High School, officers responded to the school and coordinated with school administration to limit access to the school.  As students and staff sheltered in place, officers conducted a thorough search of the building.  The shelter in place order was lifted at approximately 10 a.m.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic or white male, between 5’08” and 5’09”, wearing black pants and a black jacket, and armed with a black handgun.  During the robbery he concealed his face.

Anyone with information about this robbery is asked to call Major Crimes at 240-773-5070 or Crime Solvers of Montgomery County toll-free at 1-866-411-TIPS (8477).  Callers can remain anonymous.
