Detectives Charge Montgomery County Public Schools Employee with Sex Offenses Against Student

For Immediate Release: Friday, April 24, 2015

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department- Special Victims Investigations Division have arrested Robert Otis Wilson III, age 23, of Silver Spring, for having inappropriate contact with a 13 year-old female student (who turned 14 years old during the span of the offenses) while he worked as a paraeducator at A. Mario Loiederman Middle School. Wilson has been charged with one count of sex abuse of a minor and three counts of a third degree sex offense.  The inappropriate contact occurred during the approximate time period of October 2014 to March 2015 and most of the inappropriate contact occurred on school grounds.

Earlier this month, the Special Victims Investigations Division began an investigation into sexual offenses committed by Wilson that involved the minor victim. Detectives determined that the victim and Wilson would meet at least once a day on school grounds during the time period of October 2014 to March 2015, during or after school. On one occasion in January of 2015, the contact occurred at the victim’s residence; Wilson had gone to the victim’s residence and texted her that he wanted to see her.

At the end of March, Wilson left his role as paraeducator at the school and the contact between the victim and Wilson ended.

During a police interview, Wilson admitted to having inappropriate contact with the victim.

Wilson was arrested at approximately 9:00 last night at a restaurant in the White Oak area and was transported to the Central Processing Unit. He is currently being held on bond and will have bond review today in District Court.

Investigators are asking that anyone who believes he/she was a victim of inappropriate contact with Wilson to please call the Special Victims Investigations Division at 240-773-5409. It should be noted that Wilson also worked as an assistant track coach at Wheaton High School during the last two years.
