Pedestrian Collision In Germantown Investigated

Detectives from the Collision Reconstruction Unit are investigating a serious pedestrian collision that occurred last night in Germantown.

On Sunday, May 3 at approximately 10:07 p.m., 5th District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded for the report of a pedestrian struck near North Frederick Road (Route 355) and Gunners Branch Road.  First responders located an unconscious adult male on the right side of the northbound lanes at 19601 North Frederick Road.  He was transported to a local trauma center where he remains in critical condition.

Preliminary investigation determined that the 37-year-old victim was crossing east across northbound Route 355 from the median, when for reasons still under investigation, he was struck in the northbound lanes by a silver, 2000 Chrysler Town and Country minivan which was traveling north on Route 355.  The driver of the minivan remained on the scene and provided information to investigators.

The pedestrian's identity will be released after family members are notified.  The driver of the minivan is being identified as James Kellogg McHenry of the 10700 block of Wayridge Drive in Montgomery Village.
