Update: Entry Into Rockville Home Made Using Window

Detectives continue to investigate the deaths of Richard and Julianne Vilardo, found deceased in their Rockville home on Sunday, May 10.

Today, detectives are releasing the following information.



  1. Investigators believe that entry was made into the home through a window.  The glass was not broken.  The latch may not have been engaged.
  2. Findings from the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner are pending. When the examinations are complete, information will be released.


On Sunday, May 10 at 12:18 p.m., 1st District officers responded to a residence in the 13200 block of Ridge Drive for the report of two subjects discovered deceased. First responders located the body of Julianne Vilardo in the home at that address and located the body of Richard Vilardo just outside the rear of the home. There was trauma to the upper portion of each victim's body.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the Vilardos had agreed to meet family during the morning of May 10. When the couple was late, family went to the home and found both victims deceased; family called police at 12:18 p.m.  The Vilardos were last known to be alive in the evening of Saturday May 9.

This investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information regarding the deaths of Richard and Julianne Vilardo is asked to contact the Montgomery County Police at 301.279.8000.
