UPDATE: Arrest Made in TD Bank Robbery

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, May 13, 2015

Detectives from Montgomery County Police-Major Crimes Division have arrested Cortez Tyrone Mason, age 31, of the 13800 block of Castle Boulevard in Silver Spring for the robbery of a TD Bank in Silver Spring.   


 


On December 31, 2014, at approximately 10:12 a.m.,  a  suspect entered the TD Bank located at 3132 Briggs Chaney Road  in Silver Spring and passed a note to the teller announcing the robbery.  The suspect obtained cash from the bank and fled towards the area of the Briggs Chaney Shopping Center.


 


Using DNA evidence left by the suspect at the scene, detectives developed Cortez Tyrone Mason as the suspect in the bank robbery.  On April 22, an arrest warrant was obtained for Mason and on May 7, Mason was arrested without incident. 


 


Mason was charged with one count of Robbery and is currently being held on a $250,000 bond.
