UPDATE: 10:10 p.m. - Raphael Leon has been located and is safe!
Detectives from the Montgomery County Police-Special Victims Investigations Division are asking for the public's help in locating a missing seven-year-old.
Raphael Leon of the 25500 block of Butterfield Way in Damascus was last seen running from his home and running down the street at approximately 7:45 p.m. tonight. Raphael has Down syndrome and has a limited ability to communicate. He may not respond to the calling of his name.
Raphael is described as a hispanic male with brown eyes and brown hair. He was last seen wearing a multicolored plaid shirt, green shorts, and gray colored eyeglasses (as worn in the photo).
There is an active police search for Raphael at this time. Residents can expect to see officers, to include Maryland-National Capital Park Police officers, searching the area. K9 units are also being used. Fire&Rescue personnel are also assisting at this time.
Anyone who sees Raphael Leon or has information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911 immediately.
