Detectives Investigating Attempted Commercial Robbery and Assault in Silver Spring

Detectives from Montgomery County Police-Major Crimes Division are investigating an attempted commercial robbery and assault that occurred in Silver Spring.

On May 7 at approximately 8:18 a.m., 3rd Districts officers responded to the BP Gas station located at 10226 New Hampshire Avenue for the report of an attempted commercial robbery.  The suspect entered the store and asked for the bathroom key which the store employee provided.  The suspect briefly left the store.  When he returned, the store employee attempted to retrieve the key.  The suspect approached the employee, grabbed him by the neck and demanded money.  The employee was able to get away from the suspect and exited the store.  The suspect was last seen running behind the store.  Video surveillance linked below was able to capture part of this event.

The suspect is described as a black male, heavy set, weighing approximately 250 pounds with brown eyes and black hair.  He was last seen wearing blue jeans and a  black shirt with a Bob Marley picture on it.
