Police Investigate Montgomery Village Assault as Homicide-Asking for Witnesses to Contact Police

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division are investigating an incident, that began as a physical assault in Montgomery Village on Friday June 12, as a homicide because the victim later died due to the injuries he had sustained in that assault.

On Wednesday, June 17, the victim, identified as Bradley Colmes, 60 years old, of the 10300 block of Ridgeline Drive in Montgomery Village, died in the hospital where he was receiving treatment for the assault.  The Medical Examiner has ruled the death a homicide.

The incident began on Friday, June 12 at approximately 10:40 p.m., when 6th District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded for the report of an assault in the 10300 block of Ridgeline Drive.  Responding officers located Colmes with injuries to his head and face.  He was transported to a local trauma center for treatment.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Colmes had left his home and was walking on Ridegline Drive when he was assaulted by an unknown black male.  Detectives believe that there are people who witnessed this assault and are urging those witnesses to contact the Police Department.
