Suspect Arrested for Armed Robbery in Rockville

For Immediate Release: Thursday, June 25, 2015

Detectives from the 1st District Investigative Section have arrested Herberth A. Jimenez, age 18, of the 7800 block of Lockney Avenue in Langley Park, for an armed robbery of a resident.  Detectives are still seeking the public’s assistance in identifying two other suspects involved in this armed robbery.

On June 20 at approximately 4:30 p.m., 1st District officers responded to the 14000 block of Cove Lane in Rockville for a report of an armed robbery that had been committed by three suspects at approximately 2:00 a.m. that morning.  The 30-year-old victim was robbed of property and one of the three suspects that had robbed him was armed with a knife.  Prior to the robbery, the victim observed 3 hispanic males near a dumpster in the apartment complex. The three suspects approached the victim and one of the suspects jumped on the victim’s back. The victim noticed one of the suspects holding what appeared to be a knife as the three suspects began removing property, to include his credit cards, from him. Investigators learned that one of the victim’s stolen credit cards was used to make a purchase at a car wash.

On June 21 at approximately 10:00 p.m., a Rockville City police officer was on patrol in the area of the Flagship carwash in Rockville when he observed a vehicle being driven by Jimenez. The officer conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle after determining that Jimenez’s Maryland license was suspended/revoked. While the officer was speaking to Jimenez, he observed a spring-loaded knife, in plain view, in the pocket of the passenger side door. The officer searched the car for additional contraband and discovered a credit card with the victim’s name on it. Jimenez was arrested after it was determined that the credit card belonged to the robbery victim.

Detectives are continuing to investigate this robbery and are attempting to identify the two remaining suspects. The suspects are described only as wearing all dark clothing with dark hair.

Detectives charged Jimenez with armed robbery and theft. Jimenez is currently being held on a $15,000 bond.
