Police Investigate Single-Vehicle Fatal Collision in Damascus Area

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single-vehicle, single-occupant, fatal collision that occurred this morning in the Damascus area.

At approximately 5:07 a.m., an off-duty Montgomery County police officer came upon the collision in the 8100 block of Damascus Road.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a 2006 Cadillac CTS was traveling east on Damascus Road. For reasons still under investigation, the vehicle left the roadway and struck a telephone pole. The driver, identified as Jeffery Mark Thornton, age 19, of the 26100 block of Kings Valley Road in Damascus, succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
