Armed Juvenile Charged as Adult for Two Burglaries and Handgun Possession

For Immediate Release: Friday, July 10, 2015

Detectives from the 3rd District Investigative Section have arrested Wayne A. Robinson, age 17, of Capital Heights, for an attempted residential burglary in Silver Spring while armed with a handgun. As a result of this investigation Robinson was charged as an adult for offenses related to two previous events.

On June 24 at approximately 2:00 a.m., 3rd District officers responded to a residence in the 700 block of Pershing Drive for a report of a burglary in progress. The homeowner told officers he heard someone, later identified as Robinson, attempting to open his front door and looked out his front window.  Robinson saw the homeowner looking at him through the window and fled.

Responding officers observed Robinson fleeing the area and after a foot pursuit, Robinson was taken into custody. A .40 caliber Beretta handgun was recovered from Robinson’s waistband. Robinson was also in possession of a credit card that was reported stolen in a burglary that occurred on June 20 in the 400 block of Pershing Drive. Detectives later learned that the handgun recovered from Robinson had been stolen from a burglary that occurred in Rockville in 2014.

Robinson was transported to the Central Processing Unit where he was charged with burglary and handgun offenses for the June 24 incident and with burglary offenses related to the June 20 incident. Robinson was also charged with theft for the handgun stolen from the burglary in 2014. Robinson is currently being held on a $100,000 bond.

Note: A mugshot is not available for Robinson due to his age.
