Update: Gaithersburg Collision Now Fatal

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a collision that occurred last night in Gaithersburg. That collision now involves a fatality.

On July 18 at approximately 7:56 p.m., 6th District Officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of Frederick Road (Route 355) and Christopher Avenue for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation indicates that an Agusta motorcycle was traveling southbound on Frederick Road when it struck a black Acura MDX making a U-turn from northbound Frederick Road to southbound Frederick Road.

The 35-year-old male operator of the motorcycle suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Suburban Hospital where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The 48-year-old female driver of the Acura, and two female occupants, ages 82 and 52 were not injured.
