Update: Victim Identified in Gaithersburg Fatal Collision

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Collision Reconstruction Unit continue to investigate a fatal collision that occurred on July 18 at North Frederick Avenue and Christopher Avenue in Gaithersburg. The persons involved in the collision are now being identified.

On July 18 at approximately 7:56 p.m., 6th District Officers and Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of North Frederick Avenue and Christopher Avenue for the report of a collision.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a silver Agusta motorcycle was traveling southbound on Frederick Road when for reasons under investigation, it struck a black Acura MDX making a U-turn from northbound Frederick Road to southbound Frederick Road.

On July 19, the operator of the motorcycle succumbed to his injuries at Suburban Hospital. He is being identified as Stanislas Alexandre N. Nignan, age 35, of the 19200 block of Seneca Ridge Court in Gaithersburg.

The driver of the Acura is being identified as Amelia Siu-An Hay, age 48, of the 8100 block of Madrillon Court in Vienna, Virginia. Hay and the two female occupants, ages 82 and 52 were not injured.
