Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Major Crimes Division Robbery Section are asking the public for help to identify persons of interest in two “pack”-style robberies that occurred inside department stores in Chevy Chase and Bethesda. These two robberies are being investigated separately; the incidents and suspects have not been linked.
On July 3, at approximately 4:57 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to Bloomingdale's located at 5300 Western Avenue in Chevy Chase for the report of a robbery. The investigation revealed that numerous males and females entered the store and began concealing merchandise and attempted to leave without paying. Loss Prevention officers were pepper sprayed and assaulted by the suspects when the officers approached the suspects outside the store.
The suspects in this incident are described as black males and females, approximately 15 to 20 years of age.
On July 23, at approximately 3:21 p.m., 2nd District officers responded to Macy’s located at 7125 Democracy Boulevard in Bethesda for the report of a robbery. The investigation revealed that the two suspects were observed by Loss Prevention officers concealing merchandise and attempting to leave the store without paying. The Loss Prevention officers were pepper sprayed by the suspects as they tried to prevent them from leaving.
The suspects in this incident are described as a black male and a black female, approximately 20 to 25 years of age.
