Police Investigate Fatal Collision in Ashton Area

For Immediate Release: Sunday, August 2, 2015

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department- Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a single vehicle, single-occupant fatal collision that occurred this morning in the Ashton area.

At approximately 8:00 a.m., officers and Fire&Rescue personnel responded to the 300 block of Olney-Sandy Spring Road (Route 108) for a single-vehicle collision.

Preliminary investigation indicates that a 2006 Honda CRV was traveling west on Route 108 when for reasons still under investigation, it left the roadway and struck a utility pole.  The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Ioanna Kaskasian, age 41, of the 18900 block of Bloomfield Road in Olney, was transported to a local hospital where she succumbed to her injuries.

This collision remains under investigation. Anyone who believes that he/she witnessed the collision is asked to call the Collision Reconstruction Unit at 240-773-6620.
