Fatal Collision Investigated on Darnestown Road at Whites Ferry Road

Detectives with the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit (CRU) are investigating a fatal collision that occurred in the Dawsonville area of the county.

On Tuesday, August 4, at 7:03 p.m., the 9-1-1 center received a call for a serious collision on Darnestown Road (Route 28) at Whites Ferry Road (Route 107).  1st District officers and Fire/Rescue personnel responded and found two vehicles carrying a total of six people that had been involved in a collision.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that a silver, 2003, Chevrolet S10 Trailblazer with three occupants was traveling inbound on Darnestown Road approaching the Whites Ferry Road intersection. At the same time a silver, 2008, Honda Accord, also with three occupants, was traveling outbound on Darnestown Road. For reasons under investigation, the Trailblazer crossed the center line on the curve in the road, struck the Accord, left the road, and struck a tree.  Two of the passengers of the Trailblazer, identified as Tiffany Nicole Bein, age 23, of the 12800 block of Shawnee Lane in Clarksburg, and John Gilbert Reyes, age 23, of the 12800 block of Locbury Circle in Germantown, were ejected from the Trailblazer. Bein was transported to Suburban Hospital where she succumbed to her injuries. Reyes remains in critical condition at the Cowley Shock Trauma Center in Baltimore.

The driver of the Trailblazer, identified as Torray James Jr., age 26, of the 5700 block of Trailview Court in Baltimore, was not ejected, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to Suburban Hospital.  Alcohol is a possible contributing factor in this fatal collision.

The driver of the Honda, Janet Yeboah, 47 years old, of Germantown and the front seat passenger, Sylvester Yeboah, 31 years old, of Germantown, were transported to Shady Grove Hospital with minor injuries. The rear seat passenger, Drew Brown, 18 years old, was transported to Inova Fairfax Hospital with minor injuries.
