Update: Suspect Arrested for Germantown Homicide

For Immediate Release: Wednesday, August 12, 2015

Detectives from the Montgomery County Police Department-Major Crimes Division have arrested Miguel Angel Rodriguez-Gaona, age 36, of N Summit Drive in Gaithersburg, and have charged him with first-degree murder for the homicide of William Palacios, age 40, of the 12900 block of Walnut View Court in Germantown.  Detectives are investigating this homicide as domestic in nature.

On Tuesday, August 11, at approximately 11:25 p.m., the Emergency Communications Center (9-1-1) received a call for a stabbing that had just occurred in the parking lot of the 12900 block of Walnut View Court in Germantown.  Officers responded to the area and located inside a residence William Palacios with multiple stab wounds.  He was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation indicates that Palacios and his girlfriend- who is the ex-girlfriend of Rodriguez-Gaona - were in the parking lot in front of his residence when Rodriguez-Gaona appeared from the rear of the row of townhomes and confronted Palacios. Palacios and Rodriguez-Gaona argued and Rodriguez-Gaona stabbed Palacios numerous times with an unknown sharp object and then fled the area.

Detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Rodriguez-Gaona, charging him with first degree murder.  He was arrested by Montgomery County Police officers today at approximately 12:00 p.m. in Baltimore and will be transported to the Central Processing Unit.

Major Crimes continue to investigate this homicide.  Anyone with information about this homicide is asked to call the Major Crimes Division at 240-773-5070.
