Officers from the 3rd District have arrested Kermit Burton, age 26, of the 7200 block of Mahogany Drive in Hyattsville, Michael Warren, age 29, of the 100 block of Schuyler Road in Silver Spring, and Joy Samuels, age 26, of the 3800 block of Wildlife Lane in Burtonsville for possession of a Intratec AB-10 (Tec-9) semi-automatic pistol.

On August 11 at approximately 9:30 p.m., 3rd District officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in the area of Georgia Avenue and Spring Street. Officers identified Samuels as the driver of the car along with Warren, the front seat passenger, and Burton, the rear seat passenger. Officers asked Warren and Burton to exit the car and Burton immediately fled from the area when he exited the vehicle. Officers pursued Burton on foot and he was located in the 8700 block of Colesville Road.

Officers found a black, Intratec AB-10 (Tec-9) semi-automatic pistol on the rear passenger floorboard of the car where Burton was sitting. The gun was partially hidden by a hat he was wearing prior to fleeing from the car. Officers noticed the serial number on the gun was obliterated and also found a loaded 9mm magazine on the floorboard.

Burton, Warren, and Samuels were transported to the Central Processing Unit where they were charged with handgun offenses

Burton was ordered held without bond. Warren was released after posting a $5000 bond and Samuels was released after posting a $3500 bond.
